Campervan Rental Tips

Blog

Owning a campervan is a dream come true for outdoor and camping enthusiasts. However, most people cannot purchase campervans since they are pretty expensive. Campervan rentals are a cheap and viable alternative to people who wish to use campervans but cannot afford them. Below is a guide on what to consider when renting a campervan.

Type Of Campervan

You should be certain about the type of campervan you need from the onset. Ideally, choose the van based on your needs. Therefore, assess the following:

  • How many people will the van transport? You will need a large van if you intend to ferry many people.
  • What features do you need on the van? It could be an awning, lounge, ample storage space, a kitchen, off-road capabilities or an entertainment system.
  • For long trips, you should consider campervans with a large fuel and water tank.
  • Always go for reputable campervan models. It is a guarantee that the campervan will not break down on your travels.

Condition Of The Van

Visit the rental company's premises and inspect the available rental campervans. Start by evaluating the mechanical condition of your preferred campervan. For example, run the engine to determine if it has mechanical issues such as leaks and smoking. Inquire about the van's performance. For example, what is its average fuel consumption? Does the 4WD system work? These questions will help you determine the van's capabilities.

Check the van's interior and amenities. For instance, examine the plumbing for water and gas leaks. Moreover, the van's amenities such as the refrigerator, heating system, awning and infotainment system should be fully functional.

Rental Terms and Pricing

Ask the company to provide the rental contract. It will acquaint you with the company's terms and conditions. For example:

  • Does the company allow you to travel outside the state? It is a vital concern when going on a long road trip.
  • Does the company prohibit how you should use the van? For instance, the company could restrict you from visiting specific camping sites or taking the vehicle off-road.
  • For long-term hire, ask whether the company offers repair and maintenance services.
  • Inquire whether the van has a comprehensive insurance cover. Moreover, inquire whether you require additional insurance.

Compare several quotes before making your decision. The rule of thumb is not to work with the cheapest company. Instead, choose a company that rents the campervan at a reasonable rate and friendly terms.

Cool coach drivers

I really like doing all sorts of little things to make my passengers coach trips just that little bit more comfortable. I have DVDs playing during the day and keep the coach nice and cool at night to help people sleep on those long trips. We make lots of trips to stop and stretch and also take some great photos. Australia can seem stark when you are staring out the coach window but there are some really beautiful spots along my routes that make for some beautiful shots. I meet funny people and have great adventures, which I hope you'll like reading about.
