School Bus Hire Tips

Blog

A school bus service is your best bet when taking kids for a field excursion. However, the rental process can be exhausting since you must conduct due diligence before hiring the bus. This piece offers some valuable tips for hiring a school bus service

Determine The Required Bus

Most people end up confused after assessing the various buses for hire. The goal is to determine the required bus before making your inquiries. So, what determines the required bus? Below are some tips.

  • Determine the required seating capacity. The general rule is that every passenger should have a seat.
  • Students are known to carry backpacks when travelling. Therefore, the bus should have interior storage space to ensure easy access to their bags. When going for a few days, consider buses with storage space for travel bags and suitcases.
  • The bus must incorporate safety features such as seatbelts, emergency exits, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • School trips are an opportunity for students to make merry. Consequently, consider buses with adequate entertainment features.

Inspect The Bus

Once you locate a suitable bus, inspect it to ensure it is ideal for your trip. Look for obvious defects such as worn-out tires, ignition problems, too much smoking and power issues. Moreover, inspect the bus interior to ensure the seats are in proper condition and comfortable. You must also ask for an inspection report to ensure the bus is well-serviced and has no mechanical issues. It is the best way to verify that the bus will not break down during your trip.

Establish The Rental Conditions

Ask the school bus hire company about the rental conditions. Most companies have strict regulations regarding littering and damaging the bus interior. You typically incur an extra expense if passengers litter or damage the bus interior. Most companies also have a policy regarding the conduct of passengers. For instance, they should avoid walking or standing while the bus is in motion. Moreover, they should not attempt to disrupt the driver. You must also ensure the rental company allows travel to your planned destination. It is especially so when planning to cross into another territory or country. For long trips, insist on two drivers. This way, you can travel for many hours without taking breaks to allow the driver to rest.

When hiring a school bus, choose a suitable coach, inspect the bus and check the rental conditions. Finally, negotiate and ask for discounts.

Cool coach drivers

I really like doing all sorts of little things to make my passengers coach trips just that little bit more comfortable. I have DVDs playing during the day and keep the coach nice and cool at night to help people sleep on those long trips. We make lots of trips to stop and stretch and also take some great photos. Australia can seem stark when you are staring out the coach window but there are some really beautiful spots along my routes that make for some beautiful shots. I meet funny people and have great adventures, which I hope you'll like reading about.
